My focus is primarily free web based CMMS solutions, but I also cover commercial software as well. If you haven’t heard of the open source movement, then you’re in for a surprise. It’s software that you can download and use without paying any fees whatsoever, and if you have the in-house programming talent and want to customize the code to meets unique needs, you are free to do so.
Free maintenance software is great, but free often means that you’ll receive limited support; I say often, as some free apps host support forums that answer most of your questions, but in general, you’re on your own.
Some free web based cmms software offer the program for free but charge a fee (usually very small) for support.
If you’re looking for a commercial application with instant support and willing to pay a yearly license fee, then you’re in luck, there are hundreds of those available as well.
